Akerman became famous due to her performance in the movie Watchmen's Joule/Silk Spectre 2, in which she played Laurie Jupiter. She has also portrayed Lara Axelrod, the infamous TV show Billions. In the movies Guardians and Deplorability, she was renowned as a character in scenes when she was naked. Akerman got her start as a model, before transforming into acting. She has since appeared in many films and television shows. The most notable roles she has played are Silk Spectre II from the Watchmen film adaptation, and Lara Axelrod from the TV show Billions.
